HELLO, HOW ARE YOU?

PHOTOGRAPHER: HEDI SLIMANE

He couldn't dance or sing; felt equally lost with words as with numbers, and his hands felt like two flopping jellyfish when it came to crafting anything from scratch. Admittedly, he wasn't very talented. He worked at the post office. Sorting mail. Selling stamps. An unexceptional job for an unexceptional guy. He was devastatingly ordinary in every respect, except one. Everything changed the moment she came in. The masks she carried, painted meticulously around her eyes and rubbed into her cheeks, failed to mask her truth from him. Some days she'd walk in carrying colorful parcels, smiling brightly under her red lipstick and he knew that secretly her heart was breaking. Loving her was his best and only talent.
