Woman in Love
The sun sets the day’s grievance
And I, having disappointed you again,
Having torn another soft petal from your patience,
Cut the sensitive silk of your soul with my too quick reply,
And left you cold standing shoeless in the rain,
While I, dressed in candle light and champagne laughter,
Sought to make your humble heart humbler still
Having thus achieved my goal and disappointed you again,
I tell you tenderly that I love you all the same
And you pick up the scent of my words like morning bread baking
And hungry succumb, silently spooning your growing resentment
~Me
